7iber – Today, thousands of bloggers around the world are joining a global conversation under the banner of Blog Action Day. Started in 2007 with a bold attempt to tackle the environment, this year’s issue centers on poverty, in every corner of the world. Jordanian artist, Faridon Abida joins the conversation with a series of black and white photos that reflect the Kingdom’s poverty. Different faces and different places, Faridon proves that a picture really is worth a thousand words.

    Nice work, I think we should have more campaigns and photos like these, since many tourists that I have met get shocked when they see all those extravagant cars and houses of Amman, and they always say “You are richer than us” well get out of West of Amman and see the reality.

  • In many western cities, you see exhibits on the streets that have a common theme like that. It would be nice to have a similar exhibit say on “Shari3 El thaqafa”.

    الأردن فى عيون هولندية .. مملكة الخوف

    الظهور المـُبهر للملكة رانيا العبد الله، كما لو أنها قادمة من إحدى الأساطير يجعل عدم استلطافها أمرا صعبا. فهي تتميز وزوجها، الملك عبد الله، بالمستوى التعليمي والجاذبية وسعيهما إلى مد الجسور مع الغرب، كما أنهما يطمحان داخليا إلى جعل المملكة أكثر حداثة وازدهارا.

These were just some of the responses attendees to the Interfaith Federation of Baton Rouge’s Poverty Forum on Sunday gave to a challenge extended by the Louisiana Child Poverty Prevention Council: cut the number of children living in poverty in half by 2018.
