حبر- بعد اسبوع واحد من المظاهرات العنيفة في منطقة الرابية، توافد المتظاهرون مرة اخرى الى نفس الموقع بعد صلاة الجمعة. تجمع مئات المتظاهرون بجانب جامع الكالوتي ليعبروا عن غضبهم ازاء الأزمة في غزة، مطالبين بطرد السفير الإسرائيلي من الأردن والغاء معاهدة السلام الأردنية- الإسرائيلية.

في حين انتهت مظاهرة الأسبوع الماضي بتدخل قوات الأمن، و استخدام الغاز المسيل للدموع، مما ادى الى جرح عدد من المتظاهرين و الصحفيين، كانت هذه المظاهرة أكثر تنظيما، بحيث انتشرت قوات الأمن بسرعة فائقة في مواقع اساسية. اتبع رجال الأمن استراتيجية اغلاق شوارع معينة في محاولة لإحتواء المتظاهرين في مكان واحد و لكن ذلك ادى الى حصار عددا من المدنيين الذين ارادوا الوصول الى منازلهم. و بالرغم من أن العديدين انضموا الى صفوف المتظاهرين، فإن افضل كلمة لوصف نصف الأشخاص الموجودين في المنطقة هو – متفرجين. مجموعات من المدنيين المتسلحين بالكاميرات و الهواتف الخلوية، اتوا ليشهدوا على اية اشتباكات قد تحدث ما بين رجال الأمن و المتظاهرين. وقف هذا الحشد على أطراف الحقل على مسافة أمنة، و من بينهم العديد من النساء و الأطفال.

كان المتظاهرون يبدأون بالركض، كل عدة دقائق، خوفا من شرطة منع الشغب. هؤلاء بدورهم استغلوا الفرصة لدفع المتظاهرين و محاصرتهم في داخل التقاطع. و بالرغم أن المظاهرة كانت أقل عنفا الا ان الأمن تداخل مع المواطنين، و بدأو بضربهم بالعصي، مؤدين الى تفرقة المواطنين بعيد صلاة العصر، التي اقامها الحشد جماعة في وسط الشارع.

7iber – Only one week after protests in Amman’s Rabia District went bad, protesters converged once again on the area yesterday after Friday prayers. Hundreds of protesters came together by the Kaluti Mosque to voice their anger about the crisis in Gaza, calling on the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador to Jordan as well as the annulment of the Israeli-Jordanian peace treaty.

While last week’s protests ended with massive intervention by security forces, including the use of tear gas and many injured protesters, yesterday’s protest was obviously more organized. Security forces mobilized quickly at key locations to keep protesters in a restricted area, even closing off certain sections of the district, trapping many civilians who just wanted to get home. While many showed up to join the protester, at least half the crowd could be best defined as “spectators” – crowds of people who had come to simply watch any potential confrontation between the protesters and the police. Armed with cameras and their cell phones, the audience stood to the side, on safer ground, amidst mothers and their children.

Every few minutes, protesters would run from approaching riot police who used the opportunity to push the line back until the crowd of protesters were confined to the main intersection. While the protest was generally much calmer than the week before, security forces moved on the crowd, beating their batons on their shields, and dispersing the protesters soon after the mid-afternoon prayers.
