The issue at hand is not of permission, it is of sacrifice, and if some are willing to sacrifice then there must be something to build on. Are the new press going to be limited to social issues? Will it be able to affect economic policy? Dare we dream even foreign policy? To be critical you need to have access, and when you don't have access all you can do is make assumptions.

Feeling marginalized has become second nature to us jordanians, sometimes I feel that people fear getting involoved so that they don't have to bare the consequences.

Edward R. Murrow. If only Jordan had one...

No where in this piece do I ask for anyone's permission to do this. We build a new press and the people will realize that the better coverage comes from the independent. I'm not asking anyone's permission to do this, we're just going to do it. Come help.

While the king has called for "reform", just today he invited to the royal court the same people that make our country what it is-unelected,elected based on a screwed up law, and/or appointed..Some of the "journalists" invited antithetical to what we envision for jordan, but hey what's new? Say something and do exactly the opposite..Just the invitation of saleh gallab should be an enough clear message to those who dream of press freedom.

Good night and good luck!
HA!
