Events in Amman (and Jerash), July 17 – 23

The Jerash Festival kicks off this week after a three-year absence. Rum – Tareq Al-Nasser group are performing on the opening night on Wednesday, and this week’s schedule includes Arabic pop concerts by Milhem Barakat, Nabil Shu’ail, and George Wassouf, dance performances from China, Spain, and Turkey, as well as plays and poetry evenings. Classical music fans are in for a treat; the Johann Strauss Orchestra performs at the Citadel tomorrow, the Amman Symphony Orchestra presents its final concert of the season this Wednesday, and the Union Bank auditorium hosts an evening of violin solos and duos tonight.

You also have Algerian Film Days at the Royal Film Commission’s beautiful open-air auditorium, a jazz night with Omar Faqir at Canvas, classical Arabic favorites by Bayt Al Ruwwad – this week outdoors at the Hussein Park, and more.
