Events in Amman, October 2 – 8

الأحد 02 تشرين الأول 2011

It’s the first week of a new month, and if you’ve been following Amman’s calendar for the past 18 months you know what that means: a new edition of Amman Tech Tuesdays. This month the guest is HRH Prince Hassan bin Talal, who will be talking about innovation and change. (More details on the event’s facebook page).

A new theater season kicks off today at the Royal Cultural Center, and continues for 18 days with newly produced plays from local and international scripts. The opening show tonight is “The Incident” by Sawsan Darwazeh and Saba Mubarak.

On Friday, Bandoora – a website for alternative Arabic music, in collaboration with Al-Balad Theater, present “4×4”, a concert featuring four local bands: El Morabba3 with Sahar Khalifeh, Kazdara, Torabeyeh, and Tareq Al-Jundi’s band. Don’t miss this eclectic concert of oriental music, Arabic rap, and rock.

The Center for Strategic Studies is hosting Dr Abdel Razzaq Takriti from Oxford University this afternoon for a very interesting lecture on Dhufar Revolution, which took place in Oman between 1962 and 1975 (to be followed by a film screening on Dhufar later this month, keep an eye on 7iber’s calendar for details).

Read on for details on these events and more concerts, plays, exhibitions, and talks.
