Events in Amman, October 30 – November 4

الأحد 30 تشرين الأول 2011

Columbia University President, Lee Bollinger, is in Amman and will be giving a talk this afternoon on global press freedom and his book “Uninhibited, Robust, and Wide-Open: A Free Press for a New Century”, at the Columbia University Middle East Research Center.

The Milos Norman Film Days kick off today and continue for five days with screenings of internationally acclaimed movies by Milos Forman, one of the most prominent young directors of the Czech New Wave in the 1960s, in addition to a documentary about the director’s life and career.

Makan Art Space hosts two events this week; a talk by resident artist Christine Khoury, and the launch of Zine el Arab, an independent uncensored Arabic zine largely dependent on visual contributions from the Arab World and some short writings. You also have a transportation special event by AmmanTT on Tuesday, discussing Amman’s BRT project. The agenda also includes more films, talks, music, theater, and art exhibitions, so read on for details.
