7iber is looking for a managing editor to assist in running its website’s content production team. We are seeking a young and energetic professional with the ability to work closely with a small production team and assign tasks, manage deadlines, edit, as well as schedule content for publication. Potential candidates should have at least a Bachelors degree and experience in media, journalism, or related fields. A working knowledge of Wordpress is preferable, and at least 5 years of work experience is preferable. All candidates must be based in Amman, Jordan.

The ideal candidate would have an excellent grasp of multimedia journalism and storytelling, and a deep understanding of the local context. He/She should be fluent in Arabic and English, and have solid writing and editing skills. He/She must also be highly detail-oriented and able to enforce and stick to tight deadlines. This position will report directly to the editor-in-chief.

Duties and responsibilities

– Directly supervise the day-to-day operations of the website
– Manage a production team that creates video, photography, graphic design, as well as text features
– Respond to contribution emails, assess and edit contributions for publication
– Develop content ideas and see that they are produced and published on schedule
– Prepare content pieces for publication on the website
– Attend weekly content meetings
– Execute a content schedule
