Surrealist Film Week, Live Music, and More in Amman This Week

Saturday saw the launch of the “Surrealist Film Week” in Jadal Culture, which will continue into this week with films every night until Thursday, September 26th. The following films will be screened: Samsara, directed by Ron Fricke (Sunday 8pm); Ashes and Snow by Gregory Colbert(Monday 8 pm); Intervention Divine, a Palestinian-French-Moroccan-German production directed by Elia Suleiman (Tuesday 8pm); Un Chien Andalou by Luis Buñuel and Salvadore Dali (Wednesday 8pm); and Space Odyssey (Thursday 8pm). As for music this week, Jordanian jazz veterans Omar Faqir and Yacoub Abu Ghosh meet for the first time in concert at Rainbow Theatre, performing a variety of their own compositions and a carefully chosen and arranged bucket of jazz standards. The concert will also feature the infectious beats of Lebanese American drummer Chris Michayel. (Wednesday 8 pm). On Thursday, DJ SOTUSURA and El Far3i will be performing in Majnoon Qahwa in Taj Mall (8pm).

The five European cultural centers in Amman (British Council, Goethe-Institut, Instituto Cervantes, Institut Français, und Societá Dante Alighieri) have organized a European Day of Languages, an open day event on Thursday (11 am)  including several activities across the five institutes.  The day will be concluded by an  evening concert at the parking area of the British Council. The Jordanian band “Empty Chair”, a French choir and the German rapper “Doppel-U” will perform ( Thursday 8 pm).
