Art, music, and a Chaplin film this week

Continuing until the end of this week are multiple art exhibits including “A Tribute to Rafa Nasiri” in Nabad; “Paper Games” by Ezieh Al Sharif in Foresight32; “Syrian Art in Hard Times” by Adnan Abd El Rahman, Hasko Hasko, Rabee Kiwan, Husien Tarabieh, Khaled Al Boushi, Remy Haddad, and Mohamad Omran at Orient Gallery; and “Small is Beautiful”at Jacaranda Images. Film screenings this week include “The Gold Rush”, a silent, award-winning Charlie Chaplin feature in Shoman (Thursday 5:00 pm). This screening is open to children.

 

This week features diverse music performances in town. “Yarub Smarait & the Group” will play a fusion of Oriental and western instrumentals in the Shoman Foundation on Monday (8:00 pm). Tuesday features many options for live local bands: “The Levant Quartet” will play in Blue Fig (9:00 pm); “Shadi and Firas” in Canvas (9:00 pm); and “Yellow Mellow” at Trader Vic’s (10:00 pm). On Thursday, “Al Morabba3” will play live in Canvas, to be followed by a set with DJ Dirar (9:00 pm).
