 1.   Call for entries: Production Directory 2010
After the big success of the previous Jordan production directories of 2008 & 2009, the Royal Film Commission-Jordan is glad to announce the launch of its third edition.The production directory is distributed in film festivals and markets all over the world, as well as to major international and regional producers. Therefore, we highly recommend that everyone involved in the film industry in Jordan be included in the next edition.

 2.    Call for submission: “Environmental” short films 

Interested in raising awareness of and drawing attention to any environmental issue of concern?  The Royal Film Commission will gladly screen your film in October. If you have a short film dealing with environmental issues in Jordan or in the Middle East, kindly send us your film.
The deadline for submissions is on the 30th of September 2009.

 3.   Call for submissions: Entertainment Partners workshop (Budgeting and Scheduling)

The EP workshop – Budgeting and Scheduling will take place at the RFC – Film house on the 2nd and 3rd of October from 12:00 noon until 5:00pm.These workshops will provide step-by-step instruction in the use of Movie Magic®

Scheduling and Budgeting, the motion picture industry’s premier software for planning production. Attendees will first be guided through breaking down a screenplay, creating a variety of scheduling scenarii and going through reports needed to communicate with their cast and crew. The next session will take the information created in scheduling and guide participants through the construction of detailed budgets designed with maximum flexibility to meet changing production needs.

 4.   Crew needed: major Jordanian feature film starting to shoot

An epic Jordanian feature film is currently in pre-production and will commence filming on the 1st of October. The film, entitled “Charkass”, tells the story of the Charkass who came to Jordan in the 19th century and their interaction with the Bedouin tribes through a love story. 

The filming is planned for six weeks and the producers are currently looking for volunteers. Interested volunteers are to contact Mr. Esam Hijawi.

 5.   Call for proposals: Animation Film Week Beirut 2009

Beirut World Book Capital 2009 and Metropolis Cinema are organizing, in collaboration with Samandal Magazine and Beirut DC, with the support of the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), an animation film week that will take place between November 17th and 21st, 2009 at Metropolis cinema in Beirut.
Requirements for submissions:

  • The festival is open to films produced between 2007 and 2009
  • Categories are feature and short films, fiction, documentaries and experimental works (all animated). Original format could be in cinema (8mm, 16mm, 35mm) or in video (Betacam or DV).
  • Screening copies must be in 35mm for cinema format or Betacam SP or DV for video format. Copies should have English or French subtitles.
The deadline for submissions is on the 18th of September 2009.

 6.   Call for submissions: Arab Fund Documentary Film Program

The Arab Fund Documentary Film Program is a partnership between the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture and Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program (DFP). This program is dedicated to supporting contemporary non-fiction films produced by filmmakers targeting the audience in the Arab World.
Requirements for submissions:

  • Individuals and organizations working in filmmaking are invited to send in their proposals for development, production and post-production of non-fiction films.
  • A committee of independent international and regional experts will assess the received proposals and will make recommendations from projects submitted by filmmakers.
  • Fill in the application form in English.
  • Applications will be evaluated by an international jury including members who are non-Arabic speakers.
  • Application form and guidelines are available of the “how to apply” page on our website www.arabculturefund.org
  • E-mail the filled in application to: [email protected]. In addition, you might send a hard copy of your proposal (optional) to:  P.O. Box 1402 Amman 11118 – Jordan.
  • Proposals and all supporting visual materials should be submitted before the deadline.

 7.   Call for submissions: Professional Coaching for Producers – 6th Dubai International Film Festival

The Dubai International Film Festival is offering a high quality professional development program for film producers from Arab countries in December 2009. The program is a joint venture between the Festival’s Industry Office and European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE), one of Europe’s leading training and development organizations. This follows two very successful editions which took place at the Festival in 2007 and 2008. 

The program will take place from December 10 to 14 in Dubai.

The deadline for submissions is on the 21st of September 2009.

 8.   Call for submissions: The 8th Berlinale Talent Campus

The Berlinale Talent Campus is a creative academy and networking platform for 350 up-and-coming filmmakers from all over the world.The Berlinale Talent Campus lasts for six days and offers a huge variety of different program elements for directors, screenwriters, actors, cinematographers, producers, sditors, sound designers, composers, production designers, film critics and visual artists.

 

Requirements for submissions:

  • Participants must be fluent in English.
  • Participants must fill out the application form correctly and fully in English. In case you are selected as participant, please be aware that your data will be published on our website.
  • Participants must have worked in one of these areas: screenwriting, producing, direction, cinematography, acting, editing, sound design, film music composition, animation, art direction, production design.
  • Participants must have worked on at least one short film that was awarded, Or have had a film screened at an international film festival
  • Participants must have worked on a film of at least 60 minutes in length, Or a student in their final year at a film school or in a post-graduate film programme.
  • Must have not participated in previous editions of the Berlinale Talent Campus (with the exception of those applying to the Talent Project Market or the Berlin Today Award).
  • Participants are to attend all six days of the Campus. 
The deadline for submissions is on the 7th of October 2009.
