بقلم وعدسة طارق بيه‫ ‬

منذُ نعومة أظافري وأنا أشاهدٌ هذا الرجل الذي لم أستطع يقيناً أن أضعَ له عٌمراً. تَجدٌه دائما ًيفترشٌ الارضَ بسجادته التي يَعلوها كلٌ ما يخطر ببالك; ميداليات، عدسات مكبرة، قطع نقدية، وعملة عراقية ورقية مدموغة بصورة رأس النظام البعثي السابق. منذ منتصف التسعينيات وهو يتخذ شارع شارع السينما مٌضطجعاً له، مع تغييرات طفيفة على الاحداثيات من وقتٍ لأخر كاجراءات احترازية تكتيكية “مكافاة شر” لموظفي بلدية إربد الذين ألقوا بكل ما يعلو تلك البسطه مراراً.

يَغلِبٌ عليه طابع الهدوء، واذا حدثته.. يكتفي ببضع كلمات… أو إيماءات. أظن أن وراءه قصةً عنقاء. حاولتٌ ان أجد مدخلاً لحديثٍ لطيفٍ معه، لكنه كان يستمتع بكاسة يانسون وأبى أن يتحدث مع أحد. أذنتُ منه لأصور البسطة، فتح كلتا ذراعية مٌرحباً وعاد يرتشف من كأسِه. إذا أردت أن تتعلم معنى جملة “بطلت تفرق”، أنصحك بزيارته ولو لدقائق معدودات ومراقبته عن كثب. هو الأجدر بتعليمك المعنى الدقيق لهذه الكلمات. أنا الآن لدي 25 ربيعاً.. وأقسم أنها فارقه معي….فارقه معي!! ولكن كنت أود الجلوس ثوانٍ معدوداتٍ مكانه… وأن أشعر بذلك النعيم الذي يشعره. شكرا لك.

The Arab version of the Got Talent series kicked off on January 14 on MBC 4. It hogged the eyes of Arabs around the world – until the Egyptian protests broke out that is.

Rappers, child poets, a human beatbox, and a 70-something-year-old acrobat were all amongst the participants striving for recognition.
There I was, watching the first episode on YouTube with friends, all the way from Montreal, and I kept thinking to myself, “this is really something.”

There were funny performances, awe-inspiring acts, and some talents that were so completely unnecessary; you had to wonder how on earth they were first discovered. There was one aspect of the show, however, that just totally threw me off.

Meet the judges.

Ali Jaber is one of Arab media’s well-known sharks. He used to head Lebanon’s privately owned pan-Arab television channel ‘Future TV’. On the show, he seems to don the Simon Cowell outfit. He offers blunt and often controversial criticisms about the contestants and their abilities. What qualifications make him eligible to judge talent is beyond me.
Amr Adib, an Egyptian television presenter and interviewer, is a media personality known for his sense of humour. His bubbly demeanour is refreshing but tends to get on your nerves after a while.
Last but not least, you have the famous Lebanese singer, Najwa Karam. She’s quite popular across the Arab world and from what I gather, doesn’t seem ready to forego that privilege. She always has kind comments up her sleeve, even when she’s eliminating a contestant.

Judging talent isn’t easy, and setting aside their lack of originality –in that they’re trying so hard to be just like the judges on Britain’s Got Talent – this show’s judges might be suitable for their roles. Yet, in one poorly made decision, they pushed me towards expressing my disappointment online.

Jordanian Mouyad Abdo Mousa, accompanied by his father, arrived on set dressed in a neat plain black suit and carrying a violin case.  He is 15 years old and has only been playing the violin for four years now.

As he stepped up on stage, you could easily see how well this boy carried himself in front of people. He had poise and an air of calm about him.  The music he played that day was absolutely beautiful. Throughout his performance, you could sense the relationship he had with his violin.  The audience seemed to sense it, Najwa Karam loved it, but the other two judges slammed him down hard. It was shocking.

“I didn’t see anything ‘wow’ about it, how long can we listen to him?” Adeeb wondered out loud.

But of course, he a gave a little rapper kid, whose only apparent talent was cuteness, a standing ovation.
“The music didn’t pull me personally,” said Jaber, adding fuel to the fire. For me, personally, the fact that Mouyad played a traditional Arabic tune was enough to gain him a few extra points in my book.
After all, this is an Arabic talent show, shouldn’t there be a greater presence of Arabic elements? Most of what I saw involved mediocre renditions of Michael Jackson’s dancing and a few freak performances.
Honestly, how could you define a man’s ability to drill nails in his nostrils a talent? How could you unanimously vote for a man who would lie down on a bed of nails, place two huge bricks on his stomach and let his sons hammer down on him with axes? Why are we promoting such violent actions over beautiful music that encourages discipline, practice, and knowledge of the arts? Playing an instrument with such dexterity should be applauded and encouraged, not put down and yawned at.

See I’m not naïve or anything. I know most of those ‘talents’ were basically voted for to boost rating. But whilst accepting into the show batches of freak talents, the judges mustn’t let the little gems slip through their fingers.

Another highlight is Oud East of the River, a concert by Abdul Wahab Kayali and a group of leading Jordanian musicians, performing classical Arabic instrumental pieces and improvisations. The program will feature pieces by Al-Sharif Muhyiddin Haydar, Jamil Bashir, Munir Bashir, Ghanem Haddad, George Michael, Mohammad Abdul-Wahab and others.

This month’s edition of Amman Tech Tuesdays is on Digital Arts, featuring artists like Emad Hajjaj, Bashar Alaeddin, and others. You also have three interesting exhibitions: “defying gravity,” video installations opening at Makan today, “Urban Exchange” at Jacaranda on Tuesday, and Contemporary Legends, at Foresight gallery on Tuesday as well.

من أول مبادئ أي ميثاق شرف صحفي هو أن يقوم الإعلامي بالبحث ونشر الحقيقة، ولكن الصحف الأردنية لم تتبع مبدأ البحث عن الحقيقة في أحداث القويسمة يوم الجمعة الماضي.

مراجعة سريعة للصفحات الأولي لصحف يوم السبت تعكس محاولات المحررين لعب السياسة والتحيز بدلا من القيام بدورها الرئيس وهو البحث عن الحقيقة. فالسؤال المحير الذي كان من الضروري للإعلام أن يجيب عليه هو ببساطة : ما ذا حدث وما هو سبب الإصابات العالية لجمهور كان بالأساس يحتفل بالفوز- أي أنه لا يوجد للفريق الفائز أي حافز للتخريب والاعتداء على الآخرين إن كانوا الفريق الآخر أو قوات الأمن.

يقول المثل أن الصورة أفضل من ألف كلمة، فماذا قالت الصور في صحفنا صباح السبت اليوم الذي تلا الأحداث المؤسفة؟ صحيفتا الرأي والدستور امتنعت عن نشر أي صورة في صفحاتها الأولى عن الأحداث، وصحيفة الغد فنشرت صورة محايدة تظهر تجمع الناس حول سيارة إسعاف، أما العرب اليوم فنشرت صورة تظهر أحد الشبان من مشجعي الوحدات وهو يهرب مخلفا أحد الجرحى ملقى على الأرض مما يعطي الانطباع أن سبب الجرحى هو التدافع وهي الرواية الرسمية الحكومية.

ولكن يبقى السؤال هل ساهم الإعلام الأردني (وخاصة الورقي) في إظهار الحقيقة؟ هل ما نشر هو كل ما كان لدى المحررين؟ أم هل امتنع المحررون عمدا عن نشر صور كانت قد ساهمت في الكشف عن الحقيقة؟

قد يقول البعض إن الصحف فضلت الابتعاد عن الإثارة وقررت عدم توسيع رقعة الخلاف ودعم الوحدة الوطنية بدل من سكب الزيت على النار، ولكن هل نشر الحقيقة يؤجج فعلا الخلاف أم أنه يساعد على جلاء الحقيقة؟

الادعاء أن عدم النشر يساهم في حل الأزمة لا يتناسب مع الواقع والذي يسوده حالة من عدم الثقة بأقوال الحكومة وبالذات جهاز الدرك الأمر الذي نتج عنه تشكيل لجنة تحقيق رسمية، فالمشكلة لا تزال لغاية الآن ببساطة معرفة ما جرى وهل كانت الإصابات نتيجة التدافع فعلا، وما هو سبب التدافع؟ وما هو دور الدرك في كل ما جرى؟

الصور التي لم تنشرها صحفنا اليومية والتي وزعت عبر وكالات الأنباء العالمية تحكي قصة أخرى وليس غريبا أن تعتمد صحف إسبانية انتقادها لدور الدرك بناء على الصور الموزعة عالميا، فمثلا هناك صورة وزعتها وكالة أنباء رويترز توضح بما لا يترك أي شك قيام أعضاء من الدرك بضرب مشجعي الوحدات وهم جالسون على مقاعدهم أي أنهم لا يتسببون بأذى لأي شخص آخر.

صحفنا الكبيرة وحتى الصغيرة مشتركة في وكالات الأنباء العالمية ومنها رويترز فلماذا تم حجب الصور التي تساهم في معرفة القراء لحقيقة ما جرى؟

من الطبيعي أن الصور الفوتوغرافية لا تظهر تسلسل الأمور وقد يعتقد البعض أنها لا تكفي لإعطاء الصورة الكاملة لما جرى قبل التقاط صورة فوتوغرافية، فماذا تظهر أشرطة الفيديو والتي كانت متوفرة خلال دقائق من الحدث من خلال الفضائيات و منها الجزيرة ومن خلال المواقع اليكترونية ومنها يوتيوب؟

مرة أخرى تظهر أشرطة الفيديو رواية مخالفة للرواية الرسمية، فهل كان بإمكان صحفنا ومحررينا الاستفادة من تلك الأشرطة لمعرفة ومن ثم نشر الحقيقة؟  لقد أظهر محررونا مستوى متدني من الحرفية في التعامل مع أحداث القويسمة وسمح المحررون لأنفسهم لعب دور المنحاز في حين أن دور الإعلام الأساس هو البحث عن الحقيقة مرّة كانت أم حلوة.

الحقيقة باتت معروفة الآن بفضل اليوتيوب وصور وكالات الإعلام الدولية وبات الجميع (ما عدى محرري الصحف اليومية) على دراية كبيرة بما حدث وسينتظر الجميع نتائج التحقيق الرسمي، ولكن صحفنا اليومية تخسر مرة أخرى أكثر وأكثر من مصداقيتها ومن ثقة الجمهور بها.

The Karama Human Rights Film Festival opens today at the Royal Cultural Center, and for six days brings an amazing collection of documentaries, fiction and shorts in an eclectic and intense program that will also host panel discussions, theatre performances, a video art exhibition, and a special musical concert. Public Intervention by Ben Washington

An exciting exhibition titled “the Utopian Airport Lounge” opens at Makan Art Space today; and features a series of public interventions around Amman by a group of local and international artists, curated by Juliana Smith. The Columbia University Middle East Research Center hosts professor Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University in New York and Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development, to talk about sustainable development in the Middle East, Mediterranean, and horn of Africa.

Al-Balad Theater hosts Lebanese vocalist Rima Kcheich and dutch bassist Tony Overwater in a concert on Wednesday. This week’s music agenda also features Christmas concerts by Dozan wa Awtar choir with the Amman symphonietta and soloists from France, Kamilia Jubran, Yacoub Abu Ghosh and the Stage Heroes, Bayt al-Ruwwad,and more.

“قاعة انتظار المطار اليوطوبيّة” معرض لفن في المساحات العامّة. يقارن المشروع مدينة عمّان بقاعة الانتظار في المطار، مكان، يمكن اعتباره في نفس الوقت، لامكان.

تمّت دعوة الفنانين والفنانات، الذين تتراوح علاقاتهم بالمدينة من الحنين العميق لعدم المعرفة بشئ على الإطلاق، للمشاركة اعتمادا على أساليب استعمالهم للهياكل والمدينيّة والمساحات العامّة والتركيب. تدعو الأعمال الفنيّة الجمهور للمشاركة متأمّلة إثارة أحاديث حول الأعمال تتناول أسئلة من مثل “لماذا الطوبيّة مهمّة؟ هل تمنح المرء المساحة (أو المكان حتّى) ليحلم بالحال المثاليّة، وهل دافع الفرد ذاتيّ أم كجزء من جماعة ومدينة ومجتمع؟” يستضيف مكان، في الأثناء، معرضا عن العمليّة وراء المشروع موثّقا الحوارات والأسئلة والنظريّات التي أثارتها الأعمال. سيتم افتتاح المعرض يوم الأحد 5 ديسمبر/كانون أول، الساعة 6:30 مساء.

و في العام الماضي (2009)، أطلقت جلالة الملكة رانيا العبدلله حملة “معا” لمحاربة العنف المدرسي ضد الأطفال. ما رأيك في فعالية و تأثير مثل هذه الحملة على أطفال الأردن؟ ما مدى التزام الأردن كحكومة ومجتمع ببنود اتفاقية حقوق الطفل وأخلاقيات التعامل مع الأطفال بشكل عام؟ كيف يؤثر الوضع الاقتصادي، من ارتفاع الأسعار و نسبة البطالة على كيفية تعاملنا مع أطفالنا؟ كيف تؤثر العادات والثقافة؟

November 20th marks the 21st anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Jordan’s National Council for Family Affairs issued a report last Tuesday on the indicators of this declaration. It aims to build the capacity of governmental and non-governmental organizations to follow up on implementation of the declaration’s articles and provide officials with proper mechanisms and strategies to monitor the status of children’s rights and ensure their protection.

Last year Queen Rania launched a campaign to combat school violence against children. How effective do you feel this campaign and other government programs are? How committed is Jordan, as a government and a society, to the child’s rights declaration and general ethics of treating children? How do difficult economic conditions affect the way we treat children? How do traditions and culture affect it?

تصوير ريم مناع - يوم الانتخابات في مادبا

طُلب مني قبل اسبوعين ان اكتب عن الانتخابات النيابية. و صدقا حاولت أن اكتب: عن القانون البدائي، عن “الشعب العنيد”، عن المهزلة الاعلامية و الجوقة المرافقة، وعن “فضّلنا بعضكم على بعض”..

هناك الكثير مما يمكن قوله. القانون رديء ومخز وضار بالصحة العامة. الانفجار العنفي في الأردن لا يقتصر على منطقة، و ليس منفصلا عن نتاج الحراك “السياسي” في العشرين عاما الماضية. المهازل الاعلانية تملأ شوارع عمان. الأكيد: ليس منفصلا عن الشعب العنيد، الشعب الذي أفرز مجالس سابقة، و يفرز قوانين تمر دون اعتراض و دون أدنى اهتمام.

الحكومة من ناحية “ايدها طويلة.. الله يسعدها و يبعدها”. تم اعتقال 18 شخص تجمعوا امام رئاسة الوزراء للاحتجاج على قانون الدوائر الوهمية 2.0، القانون الذي يبدو ناتجا عن فكرة الVLANs  (للعالمين بأمور الحاسوب). التدخل في سير العملية الانتخابية وحث الناس على المشاركة وختاما ببدعة تأخير امتحانات الجامعات “حتى يتسنى للطلاب التصويت”… انه فعلا: يا الهي و يا سلام!

لنتحدث عن مكونات المجتمع؟ ماذا عن الاعلام الرائع؟ كافة الموقع الالكترونية باستثناءات محدودة “استرزقت” من الانتخابات. سواء بنشر “أخبار علاقات عامة” دون الايضاح، وصولا الى ابتزاز مرشحين بمعلومات – صحيحة كانت ام خاطئة- مقابل الاعلان. طبعا لا ننسى “البيست اوف” انتخابات و التي يربحها احد المحررين الذي أسهب و أطنب في تحليل شعار لمرشح الغى اعلانه مع الموقع. وبرضه: لا يمّل.

و الشعب العنيد؟ شعب يركض زرافات و وحدانا مقابل 25 دينار. المشكلة هي ان الحكومات المتعاقبة “خصوصا حكومة 2007″ حوّلت مجلس النواب الى مجلس بصّيمة كما وصفهم احد الكتّاب البارزين. و بالتالي صوت الناخب برأيي قيمة مضافة للنائب اكثر منها مشاركة في القرار للوطن. و بالنهاية يصبح منطقيا وبشكل ملفت مبدأ: “كيف فلان رح ينجح؟ مهو معهوش فلوس”. و بشكل أوضح: يصبح هناك جيل لا يفهم معنى الوطن و المواطنة. جيل يؤمن بأن صوت ابن عمان اهم من صوت ابن الكرك او ابن الرمثا. و بأن المغترب صوته “متل اللي بإجري”.

هذا الجيل “يبني” أردنه، كل على ما يهواه. و لا يمتنع عن المشاركة في مشاجرة تمتد على ثلاث جامعات في سبيل “العشيرة”. هناك مقولة تتردد، و ناقل الكفر مش كافر، بأن توزيع المقاعد يراعي الولاءات التاريخية والتقلبات المتوقعة في المنطقة. لا أفهم حتى حينه كيف لا يمس ذلك مبدأ الولاء للدولة. انه “مواطن أردني” أنا. بلد التصنيع قضية يجب ان لا تؤدي بأي شكل من الأشكال الي التمييز ضدَي. اصلا “ما خصني فيها!”.

الكبار أيضا يريدون أردننا على هواهم: “كل هوا و اسكت” مثلا هو اردن البعض. بدلا من أن نكون مجتمعا منفتحا على بعضه و نستمع لبعضنا البعض، نتصرف بطريقة كتائبية و ننعزل. انا مثلا أقاطع الانتخابات. و القضية اكبر من “تعملّي بلوك أو unfollow “, القضية تعني انك ترفض الآخر. هذه المشكلة مش محلية و تشمل غالبية شعب محور “الاعتدال”. لذلك ننتقل الى الخلاصة.

لا يوجد لدي أمل بتغيير و تحسن في المجرى السياسي محليا. و كل ما أدعو الله به هو ان لا تسوء الأوضاع. يعني شو المشكلة بشوية شفافية ع محاسبة ع نزاهة؟ وين المشكلة بس اعتبر انه محاولة سرقة مليار دينار من الخزينة تستحق عقوبة اشد من ثلاث سنوات في سجن 5 نجوم؟ كل ما نطلبه هو أن نتحدث مع الوطن، و ان يحمينا الله من شر الكتائبيين الجدد. و أن يكون لنا صوت ليس وهميا ولا مجزأ. مجلس نواب يمثل كافة الاردنيين ويضمن تساويهم في الحقوق و الواجبات. مجلس لا يحتوي على اعضاء في هيئات حقوق انسان يعارضون التجمع السلمي للمعارضة و يؤيدون الانتماء لها!
