بالتمعن في الشعارات، يرى أبو هلالة أن هناك من يسعى لتقسيم الشعب ويبث أفكار انقسامية، تجعل من الشعب فريقين، فريق "هم " وفريق "نحن"، مع أن الأصل أن نكون كلنا "نحن" وأن يتساوى الجميع أمام القانون في دولة المواطنة، لأنها وحدها تشكل المخرج السليم لأزمة الهوية بحسب الكاتب.
