لماذا تفشل عمّان في استقطاب انتماء أهاليها؟ لا أملك أي دراسة موثقة حول السبب ولكن من وحي تجربة لا زلت أخوضها يوميا في نقاشات عقيمة، استنتجت خلاصة مفادها أن الكثير من أهل عمان لا ينقصهم الانتماء لها، ولكن تنقصهم جرأة الاعتراف بهذا الانتماء أمام شريحتين تزدادان اتساعا، واحدة لا تحبذ هذا الانتماء وتفضل الانتماءات الأولية، وشريحة أخرى لا تثق في هذا الانتماء مهما قدموا من حجج.

عندما أقول أن مدينتي هي عمّان، تنهال الأسئلة من قبيل "هل يكفي أن أكون من مواليد مدينة حتى أنتمي اليها؟"، "هل يكفي أن أنعم بأمن مدينة حتى أنتمي اليها؟"، الخ من أسئلة تحقق في انتماء يراه الكثيرون على أنه "غير مشروع"، نحن غارقون في البحث عن اجابات لأسئلة تدور حول معيار الانتماء وفلسفته، هل هو مكان الولادة والاقامة؟ هل هو المنبت والأصل فقط؟ هل هو الاثنين معا؟ هل نقبل بالانتماء القطري وننسى أننا كنا يوما أمة واحدة؟

ثم ننتقل لمعتقدات وصور نمطية تصور أهل "مدينة المهاجرين" على أنهم "ركاب ترانزيت"، ليسوا بالكفاءة والانتماء الكافيين للوقوف في وجه اي خطر يلحق بمدينتهم وبالأردن، أذكر أن أحد زملائي السابقين كان يجادل بأن أجداده وأهل مدينته الأصلية هم وحدهم سيتصدون لأي عدوان خارجي، "أهل عمان بدهم يوقفوا للأردن؟ أهل عمان يا دوب يلحقوا يلموا شناتيهم ويسافروا!"

في نظرة سريعة على المدينة، تبدو وكأنها كما جاء في الكتاب لا تزال تعيش الكرنفال، ولكن بنظرة أقرب تبدو لي وكأن كل ساكن فيها يعيش "أزمة هوية" تعمقها سياسة وقوانين تحتم عليه الانتماءات الأولية، لربما نحتاج اليوم لقوانين وممارسات تحتوي التعدد الذي ينحني له زوار الأردن وتقبله، نحتاج للإعتراف بعمّان كمدينة شرعية تستحق الحياة وتستحق من أهلها الانتماء. عمّان مدينة تستحق اليوم أن نقول أننا منها دون أن نرى ملامح الحيرة والتخوين في وجوه الآخرين.
