Events in Amman, June 6 – 12

الأحد 06 حزيران 2010

The start of the World Cup this Friday will mean that Amman will see less concerts and cultural events than it normally would in June, but if you compare it to the 2006 World Cup, you’ll find that there’s a lot still going on in the arts and culture scene this month.

SoA- CUMERC Film FestivalThis week Columbia University’s School of the Arts and the Columbia University Middle East Research Center are hosting a film festival titled “A Critical Mirror: America Looks at the Iraq War” with screenings and discussions of contemporary films about the US war in Iraq is to convey how Americans have confronted the US-led invasion of Iraq in their critical reflections and creative work.

This weekend will be the last for Souq al-Balad; Amman’s farmers market, so check it out at the YWCA for some healthy products and other crafts. On Friday, head out to Wadi Seer for a tag sale where you can also take your own things that you’d like to sell.

Read on for details on these and more events happening in Amman this week; concerts, exhibitions, theater, film, and more.
