“نسجنا الأرض بشباك من حديد” معرض بتنسيق من تولين طوق وإريك غوتسمان يجمع فنانين من البلدان التي انخرطت في عمل خط الحجاز، الذي بني أثناء الاستعمار العثماني بهدف إيصال الحجاج إلى مكة وربط السلطان عبد الحميد الثاني بجميع نواحي امبراطوريته، والذي يقع في الوقت الحالي بائساً بين تلال سوريا وفلسطين وصحراء الأردن والسعودية. يحاول المعرض التحقيق فيما تبقى لمثل هذا المشروع وهذه الخطوط في عصر التغيير.

اشتمل يوم الافتتاح الجمعة الماضي رحلة بالقطار من محطة عمان إلى محطة الجيزة حيث يقام المعرض.

“We have Woven the Motherland with Nets of Iron” is an exhibition curated by Toleen Touq and Eric Gottesman, bringing together a group of artists from the countries involved in the Hejaz Railway, which was an Ottoman endeavor intended to connect pilgrims to Mecca and Sultan Abdel Hamid to the remote corners of his crumbling empire. The railway now lies derelict between the hills of Syria and Palestine, and the deserts of Jordan and Saudi Arabia. This exhibition examines the possibilities of – and barriers to – recreating regional ties and attempts to investigate what remains of such projects, such lines, in this changing age.

Last Friday, the opening of the exhibition included a train ride from Amman to the Jiza station where the exhibition is held.
