Events in Amman, January 22 – 28

This week’s agenda is packed. As Egypt marks the anniversary of January 25, the Royal Film Commission hosts five days of films commemorating Egypt’s revolution – five documentaries and one short – in the presence of the directors. And there are more political film this week, as Makan continues the winter films series curated by journalist and critic Yazan Ashqar, this time exploring the theme of “Critique of Power” with films from the UK, Austria/Germany, and Spain.

The Columbia University Middle East Research Center hosts bestselling author William Cohan for a lecture on the significance of the Occupy Wall Street movement.

You also have exhibition openings at Foresight and Dar al-Anda, a daily theater performance of “the Incident” at the Royal Cultural Center, a night of slam poetry at the Studio, live jazz at Canvas, book events, piano concert, and more. Read on for details.
