عام ٢٠١٠ سجل في الأردن ٦٢.١٠٧ حالة زواج بحسب بيانات دائرة الإحصاءات العامة. الجدول البياني التالي يوضح توزيع هذه الحالات حسب عمر الزوج والزوجة كنسبة مئوية من مجموع حالات الزواج الكلية. وشكلت حالات الزواج لفتيات بين الخامسة عشر والتاسعة عشر من العمر ٢٦ بالمئة من المجموع الكلي لحالات الزواج . علماً بأن قانون الأحوال الشخصية الأردني يشترط في اهلية الزواج “أن يكون الخاطب والمخطوبة عاقلين وأن يكون كل منهما قد اتم الثامنة عشرة سنة شمسية الا انه يجوز للقاضي ان يأذن بزواج من لم يتم منهما هذا السن اذا كان قد اكمل الخامسة عشرة من عمره وكان في مثل هذا الزواج مصلحة تحدد اسسها بمقتضى تعليمات يصدرها قاضي القضاة لهذه الغاية.”
من الملاحظ أيضاً أنه تم تسجيل إحدى عشر عقد زواج بين نساء أعمارهن بين٣٠ – ٣٤ ورجال بين ١٨ – ١٩ من العمر. كما تم تسجيل ١٧ عقد زواج بين رجال فوق الخامسة والستين وفتيات بين ١٥ – ١٩ من العمر.
In 2010 there were 61,107 registered marriages in Jordan according to Department of Statistics data. The following graphic outlines the distribution of these marriages based on the age of the bride and groom as a percentage of the total number of marriages. It’s worth noting that 26 percent of all marriages were for women between the age of 15 and 19, while the Jordanian personal status law states that the legal age of marriage is 18 but the judge can allow marriages at the age of 15 under special circumstances.
Note also that there were 11 marriages between women aged 30 – 34 and men ages 18 – 19, and 17 marriages between men over 65 and women between 15 and 19 years of age.

I’m alarmed at the 15-19 bride category, especially seeing it overlap with the Groom 40+ sections. Though these probably do not account for more than 100 cases which is… good?
Other than that I don’t think I’m smart enough to make any conclusions based on these statistics. Pretty cool graphs. Sad that the age for female marriage slows down after 35 (except in cases where the groom himself is old). Also roughly about 25 – 40% of marriages are when the female is older than the male.

i find it baised negatively for legal and social development to lump underage children with adults in the 15 to 19 catagory of these statistics pieces- i wish in the future the statistics makers would take their lead from the criminal code and the elections law both of which view 18 as the age of consent – otherwise i think for these statistics to gain more social analysis value they need to include some further charts ie a chart of remarriage of same couple (the three divorces and remarriages legal and customary for same couple) , and a chart on relative wealth of spouses which may shed light on the more divergent couplings, and a chart on number of children produced. otherwise it is good these kinds of numbers are coming to light, thanks 7iber

االمشكلة هي غلاء المهور في البلاد العربية غلاء مهور مع اجور قليلة مشكلة كبيرة اعتقد ان جشع بعض الناس يسبب مشكلة العنوسة فلنطبق كلام رسول الله اقلكم مهرا اكثركم بركة
