Orfali Gallery features a pottery exhibition by Valantions and his former students: Saad Shaker, Mahmoud Taha, Akram Naji, Sheniar Abdallah, Nasir Saleem Al-Halabi, Maher Samarai, Hazem AlZubi, Raed Dahleh. “A Salute to Valantions” will run until January 2nd, 2014.

A new exhibition opens at Jadal Centre, titled “Cutting Away the Void”. The exhibit is personal initiative by Nora Darwich and Fritz Best with Syrian Refugees in Jordan. The Syrian and British born artists are using the linocut printmaking technique to portray the people they meet, documenting their recent histories. The physical obstacle of cutting the material in order to reveal an image, gives the picture-making process a particular focus. As well as presenting the individual works of all participants, Darwich and Best have orchestrated a series of collaborative works grouping images in themes that that became popular during the course of the workshop.

Ghiya Rushidat Live in Concert will feature sound tracks from Jordan and guest musicians Nasser Salameh, Tareq Al Jundi, Khaled Bala’awi, Ala’a Takrouri, Lama Zakharia and DrumJam, and Bashar Khries. The concert will take place in King Hussein Cultural Center in Ras El-Ein (Saturday 8pm). For more info visit the Facebook invite here.
