Algerian Film Days, JOrchestra, and more in Amman this week

The Royal Film Commission presents the Algerian Film Days in cooperation with the Algerian Agency for Cultural Influence, starting on Monday and continuing till Wednesday at 8:00 PM. Abdelkader, a documentary by Salem Brahimi, recounts the life and spiritual journey of Emir Abd el-Kader, a resistance fighter against the colonial armies (Monday). Two shorts, Les Jours D’avant (The Days Before) and Passage à Niveau, will be screened on Tuesday. La Voie de L’Ennemi (Enemy Way), is a narrative feature by Rachid Bouchareb (Wednesday). As part of X-TALK, Columbia Global Centers will host a talk titled  “CONSTRUCTING EDUCATION CITY“by Ameena Ahmadi (7:30 PM). Since the inception of Qatar Foundation in 1995, the physical development that accompanied the organization’s growth constituted an ambitious ever-expanding project. In this talk, Ameena Ahmadi will give an overview of the efforts that are shaping Education City and its masterplan and architecture, along with some glimpses of future plans. On Tuesday, the National Music Conservatory, in cooperation with the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, is reviving Amman Symphony Orchestra, as the Jordanian National Orchestra Association (JOrchestra), with a launch concert in Al Hussein Cultural Center (7:00 PM). Also on Tuesday, there will be a jazz performance at the Corner’s Pub featuring Yacoub Abou Ghosh, Tarek Abu Kwaik, and pianist Hans Lammen from Holland (9:00 PM). Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation presents “Taksim Trio” on Thursday at the Odeon Theatre beside the Roman Theatre-Downtown Amman (9:00 PM).
