لطالما قُدّمت القضية الفلسطينية عبر الكتابة والتحليل السياسيين، كما أُبرزت من خلال التوثيق التاريخي والقانوني والاقتصادي. لكن الكتابة التي لا تزال تنقصها هي الكتابة السردية في الروايات والمذكرات.
إن نظرنا للطريقة التي قُدم فيها اضطهاد اليهود في أوروبا خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية، لوجدنا أنها كانت بفيض من الأدب والقصص والروايات والمذكرات، ولعبت الأفلام والمسرحيات دورًا هامًا كذلك في جعل القصة اليهودية قريبة ومؤثرة.
لماذا لم تطرح القصة الفلسطينية بهذه الطريقة؟ لماذا لم يكتب الفلسطينيون كفاية عن تجاربهم الشخصية عبر السير الذاتية والمذكرات؟ ولماذا من المهم أن يفعلوا؟ هل لغة الكتابة مهمة كذلك؟
في الجلسة المقبلة من سلسلة حبر “فنجان قهوة” ستناقش الناشطة والأكاديمية والكاتبة الفلسطينية البارزة غادة الكرمي هذه الأسئلة، معتمدةً على تجربتها الشخصية في كتابة مذكراتها المعروفة “البحث عن فاطمة”.
د. غادة الكرمي هي حاليًا باحثة في معهد الدراسات العربية والإسلامية في جامعة إكستر في إنجلترا. أحدث كتبها كان بعنوان “متزوجة برجل آخر: معضلة إسرائيل في فلسطين”.
سيكون الحوار بالعربية وقد يتضمن قراءة بعض النصوص بالانجليزية.

The Palestine cause has usually been presented through the medium of political writing and analysis. It is also featured in historical, legal and economic documentation. What has been lacking is a narrative form of writing about this subject through novels and memoirs.
If one compares the way in which Jewish persecution in Europe during the Second World War has been presented, it has been overwhelmingly through literature, stories, novels and memoirs. Films and plays have also played an important part in making the Jewish story familiar and moving.
Why has the Palestinian story not been portrayed in this way? Why have Palestinians not written enough about their personal experiences through autobiographies or memoirs? And why is that important? Is the language of writing important too?
In the upcoming session of 7iber’s Finjan Qahwa, leading Palestinian activist, academic, and writer Dr Ghada Karmi will discuss these questions. Her talk will draw on her experiences with writing her own well-known memoir, In Search of Fatima.
Dr. Ghada Karmi is currently a research fellow at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter in England. Her most recent book is “Married to Another Man: Israel’s Dilemma in Palestine.”
The talk will be predominantly in Arabic.
