A Talk at 7iber, Palestinian Films, Urban Stories Exhibition and More

7iber today hosts the 12th session of Amman Lab’s “X-Talk” series, Archipelago in Amman: Two Conversations on the Politics of Bodies and Space. The talk will be lead by the architect, writer, and editor of The Funambulist, Léopold Lambert, in conversation with Rahel Aima, Ahmad Makia and Dena Qaddumi (7:00 pm).

This weekend, WAY Palestine Film Festival begins, with the documentary “My Love Awaits Me by the Sea” (Friday, 7:00 pm). On Saturday, four short films will be screened, “Ismael”, “Maqloubeh”, “Give a Man a Fish”, and “Though I know the River is Dry” (4:00 pm) and the documentary “Flying Paper” (7:00 pm). All proceeds will go towards building playgrounds for children in Gaza.

Shoman Foundation will be screeningthe 2012 British film, “Quartet”. It tells the story of  a concert by Cecily, Reggie, and Wilfred who are in a home for retired musicians, celebrating Verdi’s birthday. Jean, who used to be married to Reggie, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium (Tuesday, 6:30 pm).

The exhibition “Urban Stories: Amman” opens on Tuesday at Darat al Funun. The exhibition is born out of an investigative design workshop led by designer and ‘placemaker’ Rawan Kashkoush on ‘Amman’s Urban Furniture’ conducted at the Lab in December 2014. This exhibition showcases research and findings of seven of the workshop participants (6:30 pm).
