Back to my Roots is a documentary film about Fatima, a Palestinian refugee returning to her home country for the first time in her life. The journey starts in her adopted home city of London.

Fatima joins a British Labour party delegation and travels to Jerusalem, Hebron, Bethlehem and the West Bank. There she meets politicians including the late Palestinian minister Ziad Abo Ein, who met his death at the hands of the Israeli security forces while planting an olive tree. She sees at first hand the appalling conditions of Palestinian life in Israel.

The film portrays the sadness of an exiled Palestinian without the right to return to the native country of her family and the agony of a refugee who has witnessed the massacres of Sabra and Shatila camps as a young child.

What will Fatima find in Palestine? We follow her quest all the way to the native village her parents fled in 1948, and we find out the reality of life behind Israel’s apartheid wall.
