أيّها الموشومون وأيّها الموشومات شاركونا يوم تصوير الوشم في مكان
يجمع مكان كل ما يعني الوشم في عمان وما حولها من صور ومعلومات، وذلك بغرض توثيق هذه العادة محليا. فانضموا إلينا إن كنتم من أصحاب وصاحبات الوشوم وتودون مشاركتنا هذا المشروع. اصطحبوا الموشومين والموشومات من أصحابكم ومعارفكم.
نحو بناء أرشيف لعادات الوشم، يهدف فريق مكان في هذه المرحلة من المشروع إلى جمع المعلومات والمصادر المتعلقة بهذه العادة محليا، ووضع نواة لهذا المشروع مؤلفة من مجموعة من صور أوشام محلية مع تفاصيل مختلفة عن أعمارها وأعمار أصحابها وطبيعة عملها (من التقنية إلى احتراف صانعها) بالإضافة إلى حكاية عملها. سيقوم فريق مكان بتدوين هذه المعلومات عن وشومكم كما وسيتم تصويرها بموافقتكم.
الوشم كممارسة محليّة: ينبثق اهتمامنا بالوشم من اهتمامنا بالممارسات الثقافيّة والفنيّة بشكل عام، وبالذات الممارسات المهمّشة منها. هذا التهميش والتغريب الذي يُستخدم كوسيلة لقمع الأفراد أو الجماعات. يُستخدم هذا الشكل من القمع أحيانا كوسيلة لإعادة صياغة هويّة، فكلّما حاولت دولة ما أو جماعة تعريف هويّتها كلّما أدّى ذلك إلى استثناء أفراد أو جماعات فيها. وقد صار من السهل تهميش الفرد بوصفه أجنبيّا، وتحقير العادات بوصفها غير تقليديّة، على الرغم من أنّ ذلك يتضمّن تناسيا لتاريخها وألفتها، ولعلّ ذلك لأسباب تتحد في تعصّبها وعنفها ونكدها.
على أيّ أساس ينظر البعض إلى الوشم ويصفه بأنّه غير أصليّ؟ منذ متى غدت وجوه السيّدات الموشومة غريبة؟ ألم تكن الوشوم يوماً إشارة للنضال السياسي؟ ومن منّا لم يرَ من وسم جلده أو وسمت جلدها إعلانا عن الحب، أو ولاءً لقضيّة أو جماعة، أو زينة، أو تخليدا للحظة طيش؟
Tattooed fellows, join us for the tattoo photo-shoot day at Makan
Makan is collecting images and information about tattoo practices in the area of Amman and beyond to build a database that documents this local practice over the past 100 years. Join us if you have a tattoo(s) and wish to contribute towards this documentation process, and if you know someone who has tattoos invite them to join us!
Towards building an archive for tattoo practices, and for this phase of this project, Makan’s team hopes to put together relevant information and resources as well as a core group of tattoo pictures and information: date of tattoo, age of tattooed person, tattoo artist, technique (traditional or new), and the story behind the tattoo. During the photo-shoot, Makan’s team will take down the information related to your tattoo alongside the pictures if you agree.
Tattoo as a local practice: This is the start of a project to create a record of tattoo practices in the geographic area of Amman and around. It is an attempt at examining a local cultural practice that is being suppressed by the radicalisation of the craft itself and the people involved. This suppression is not exclusive to tattoo practices but is rampant in an attempt to erase a history and manipulate a collective memory for the purpose of forcing a fabricated and exclusive national/religious/patriarchal/patriotic identity, which in its foundation is, oppressive and narrow.
On what basis do some claim that tattoos are not local? Since when have the traditional tattoos adorning the faces of women for decades become strange? How many tattoo images have we seen that speak of popular political struggles? Who among us have not seen inked skin with symbols to declare a timeless love or an undisputed loyalty, for decoration and fantasy, and as a record witness to a moment of pure impulsiveness demanding to be memorialised.
