WEF Blogging | Sheik Makhtoum's 10 Billion Dollar Announcement

You know how they say actions speak louder than words? And you know how they say money talks. After a 20 minutes speech on the condition of our region, focusing primarily on education and our youth as well as our inability to develop any sense of research and development and innovation, going so far as to quote figures on how many books are produced by the Arab world, H.H. Sheik Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum of the UAE announced at the WEF his establishing of a $10 Billion Human Development Foundation for the Arab world. The foundation aims to develop future leaders and create a knowledge-based society.

Let’s hope that money does not find its way to the tracks.

Right now I’m in the Al Arabiya debates that include some very distinguished participants such as Fadi Ghandour and Amre Mousa. The debate is entitled “Is the Arab World Betraying its Youth and is live on the Al Arabiya Channel so you might want to turn to try and catch it.
