بعد سنوات من الخدمة في القوات المسلحة، يلجأ العديد من المتقاعدين العسكريين للعمل في شركات الأمن والحماية كحرّاس لمؤسسات ومباني ومنازل مختلفة في عمّان. يقضي هؤلاء الحرّاس تسع ساعات يومياً في حجرة لا تتجاوز مساحتها متراً مربعاً واحداً. داليا النبر تأخذنا إلى داخل هذا الحيّز وتسأل ما هو الشيء الأهم لكل منهم في هذه المساحة الصغيرة.
هذه الصور جزء من معرض “متر مربّع – تسع ساعات” الذي يستمر حتى ٣١ آذار في زارا غاليري في فندق حياة عمّان ضمن مهرجان الصورة.
After years of serving in the army, many retired personnel end up as security guards spending their days in a square-meter booth in front of large buildings, institutions, and houses around Amman. How small can the booth be? And how much can it fit? For 9 hours every day these men unconsciously create a home out of this space. Photographer Dalia Naber takes us inside their booths and asks them what the most important object to them in there.

Abu-Ibrahim spends eight hours at work and the most important thing to him in his booth is his cup of tea.
أبو محمد يقضي اثني عشر ساعة في كشك الحراسة يومياً، يتسلى بالحديقة المجاورة، وأهم شيء صوبة الكاز لأنه لا يوجد لديه كهرباء
Abu Mohammad spends 12 hours in his security booth every day, and amuses himself with the park next door. The most important thing to him is the kerosine heater because he has no electricity in his booth.

Hassan and Ismael spend 12 hours a day at work and keep each other company. “We’re lucky the booth is big and the scenery around us is nice,” they say.

Abu Bahaa spends nine hours and amuses himself with newspapers and magazines.
أبو العبد يقضي ١٢ ساعة. “بتسلى لما اتحرك برا الكوخ لأنه بتعب من القعدة. أهم إشي تلفوني معي”
Abul-Abed spends 12 hours at work. “I amuse myself by walking around the booth because I get tired of sitting down. The most important thing is my phone.”

Abu Bahaa spends eight hours in his booth, and amuses himself with the cats around it.
أبو الليث: “الدوام من ٩ إلى ١٨ ساعة. الحراسة بتسليني. متقاعد من سلاح الجو. أهم إشي عندي الصوبة والمسدس.”
Abu Laith says he spends 9 – 18 hours at work. “Guarding keeps me entertained, I’m retired from the air force. The most important thing for me is the heater and my gun.”
أبو محمد، يقضي في كوخ الحراسة ١٢ ساعة يومياً. “بتسلى بالسيارات اللي رايحة جاي. الجريدة أهم إشي عندي.”
Abu Mohammad spends 12 hours in his booth. “I amuse myself by watching the passing cars and the newspaper is the most important thing for me here,” he says.
