This week’s cultural agenda includes daily talks and public seminars as part of Amman Lab’s workshop “Echoing Borders”, which addresses “the necessity for understanding and analyzing the evolution of ‘temporary settlements’ in relation to the place of the refugee in contemporary migration politics in the region.”
The talks include a presentation by Visualizing Impact’s Ahmad Barclay, who will talk about info graphics for a cause (Monday at 8:00 pm, at Wild Jordan). Other talks will cover Iraqi displacement in Jordan, Palestinian refugee camps, and informal settlements. (Check 7iber’s calendar for the full schedule).
On Sunday evening, take in the panoramic views of Amman from the Citadel while enjoying a concert by Dalal Abu Amneh, in memory of Palestinian poet Mahmood Darwish.
There’s more live music this week; the National Music Conservatory is organising a classical guitar concert “From Baroque to Tango”, with Canada’s next classical guitar superstar (CBC Music), Tariq Harb, and with Jordanian artist, Ghassan Naji. (Thursday at 8:00 pm at the Royal Cultural Center. Tickets JD 5).
