يغادر (انريكو)، وهو زعيم أكبر حزب سياسي معارض، بعد أن أنهكته الحياة العامة، بطريقة مفاجئة من ايطاليا إلى فرنسا . لتغطية غيابه غير المبرر، يتسلم توأمه – والذي خرج قبل فترة وجيزة من مستشفى للأمراض العقلية – قيادة الحزب. بهدوء وبعزم، يتقمص “جيوفاني” شخصية أخيه وتصرفاته.
ينظر فيلم (تحيا الحرية) في كيفية انتحال شخصية أخرى ويلقي نظرة ساخرة على المؤسسة السياسية.
حاز الفيلم جائزة أفضل سيناريو وأفضل ممثل ثانوي في جوائز ديفيد دي دوناتيلو عام 2013، كما نال الجائزة الفضية الخاصة وجائزة أفضل سيناريو في النقابة الإيطالية لصحافيي الأفلام.

Enrico, the leader of the most important opposition political party and burnt out by his public life, suddenly leaves Italy to France. To cover up for his unexplained absence, his twin brother, who has been recently released from the psychiatric hospital, takes over the reins of the party. Slowly and steadily, Giovanni impersonates his brother’s public character and manners.
“Long Live Freedom” wanders through the fantasy of swapping one’s life for another and takes a cynical look at the political establishment.
The film has won Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor at the David di Donatello Awards in 2013; it also won the Special Silver Ribbon and Best Screenplay at the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists.
