Tunisian Films, Jazz Concerts, and More in Amman This Week

Jazz lovers have a great week ahead, with the Amman Jazz Festival kicking off today, Sunday at the Haya Cultural Center. For six days, the festival offers concerts by renowned international and local Jazz musicians in different venues across Amman. For details check out 7iber’s calendar. (Tickets JD5).

Also on Sunday, the Tunisian Film Week starts at Rainbow Theater, organized by Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation in collaboration with the Tunisian Ministry of Culture. The participating films were selected by Tunisian critic Abdel Kareem Qabous, and feature the best works produced after the 2011 revolution. They include «Shallat Tunis», directed by the Kawthar Ben Haniah, and the opening film «Manmutesh» (We Don’t Die) directed by Nouri Bou Zeid, one of the most celebrated contemporary Tunisian film directors.

On Wednesday, the film screening will be preceded by musical performance by Tunisian artist Yasser Jeradi (6:00 pm, at Rainbow Theater).

On Saturday, enjoy an outdoor concert by musical duo Semazen on 7iber’s rooftop, where they will perform spiritual songs from different cultures and religions like Native American chants, healing chants, gospel songs, Reggae anthems, hindu mantras, and sufi songs. (Tickets 5JOD)
