فيلم خيار كاتيا

يروي قصة المهاجرين الذين يتم إنقاذهم من أهوال الطبيعة وقصة كاتيا بيليغرينو، اول امرأة تقود سفينة قوات بحرية إيطالية. كان ذلك ظهر الحادي عشر من تشرين الأول 2013. قبل أسبوع فقط، انقلب قارب آخر محمل بالمهاجرين الليبيين على بعد نصف ميل من مدخل ميناء لامبيدوسا قبل أن يبتلعه البحر بالكامل. يوم الخميس 3 تشرين الأول، تم انتشال 194 جثة، وهو عدد استثنائي مأساوي يبين فقط جزءًا من القصة.

في 11 تشرين الأول، أعلنت القوات البحرية الإيطالية عن العدد الرسمي ل 366 ضحية مع 22 أخرى مفقودة. كانت هذه إحدى أكبر الكوارث في تاريخ البحر المتوسط على الإطلاق.

Catia’s Choice

The film tells the story of the many migrants rescued and of Catia Pellegrino, the first woman to command an Italian navy vessel. It is early afternoon on the 11th of October 2013. Only a week earlier, another ramshackle boat packed with Libyan migrants had capsized just half a nautical mile from the entrance of Lampedusa harbour. It turned over three times before the sea swallowed it up. That Thursday 3 October, 194 corpses were recovered, an already exceptional body count that told only part of the story.

On 11 October, the Italian navy announced the official figure of 366 victims with a further 20 missing presumed dead. It was one of the biggest disasters in the Mediterranean’s long history.
