“غرازيا” شابة منغلقة على نفسها يتعذر عليها التواصل مع والدها “كريستيانو، وهو بائع سمك يعيش في ضواحي “ريجيو كالابريا” جنوب ايطاليا. لقد اختفى شقيقها في ظروف غامضة قبل سنوات، وقيل لها انه لقي حتفه فيما يتكتم والدها عن ذلك. ذات ليلة، فيما كانت “غرازيا” تسبح في البحر، خيل لها مشاهدة “بييترو”. فتحاول البحث عن أجوبة لم تحصل عليها من قبل.
ينظر فيلم “الجنوب لا شيء” في النقلة من مرحلة المراهقة إلى سن الرشد ويتطرق إلى المواضيع التي يتم التكتم عليها في العائلة ويبرز ضرورة الوضوح والمثابرة في الحياة.
شارك الفيلم في مهرجان برلين السينمائي الدولي عام 2014 وأيضاً في مهرجان تورونتو الدولي ومهرجان روما السينمائي عام 2013.

Grazia is an introverted adolescent who is incapable of developing a dialogue with her father Cristiano, a fishmonger in the outskirts of Reggio Calabria in Southern Italy. Her brother, Pietro, disappeared years ago; she was told he was dead and her father never wanted to talk about it. During a night swim, Grazia believes she has seen Pietro. She starts seeking answers she never had.

“South is Nothing” focuses on the entrance into adulthood of a tormented adolescent. A film on family and unspoken things, on the importance of clarity and the strength needed to keep going in life.

The film has participated at the Berlin Film Festival in 2014, as well as Toronto Film Festival and the Roma Film Festival in 2013.
