Rights, Justice and Democracy in Tunisia: Between Revolution and National Security – A Talk by Corinna Mullin

The recent horrific attacks targeting foreign tourists at Tunisia’s national Bardo Museum have reinvigorated domestic and international discussions concerning the most effective means of ensuring national security. This talk seeks to think through some of the potential ramifications of these discussions for Tunisia’s democratic transition.

Corinna Mullin is a Visiting Assistant Professor in International Relations at the University of Tunis, Tunis Business School (TBS). She is currently co-organizing a project together with the London School of Economics’ Middle East Centre to design and launch a new International Relations minor at TBS.

Professor Mullin is a Research Associate in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), where she lectured in Comparative Politics of the Middle East for two years prior to moving to Tunis. Professor Mullin continues to teach a summer course on Government and Politics of the Middle East at the London Middle East Institute at SOAS.

Professor Mullin’s current research focuses on the politics and political economy of “transitions” and the complex and dynamic relationship between international relations and state-society relations, with a focus on the U.S., Western Asia and North Africa.
