The Timeline missed to contain Khaled Touqan’s extreme variations in the Uranium reserves in Jordan. He started in 2008 speaking of 220 thousand tons and went down to what Areva has declared on Nov 1st, 2011 as only 12 thousand tons. The trajedy that neither Touqan nor Areva ever revealed that the quality of such 12k tons is very poor that mining it will loose a huge deal of money and water for Jordan. Better keep it in the ground.
This is where the Nuclear Project of Jordan FAILED. It highly depended on uranium reserves sales over the international market which money was to be used for building nuclear power plants. Now we do not have any money and we ahve to borrow more…!!
Six years passed and our government has not issued a feasibility study for the nuclear project. You decide to build a chicken farm and you will do your feasibility before spending one penny. On the contrary, Jordan Atomic Energy Commissions $$ spent close to 1/4 billion U$ without knowing if nuclear energy is feasible or not…!!! Mabroooook Jordan.

Sales of raw uranium even at higher quantities will provide minor contribution to needed investments. A higher value added is in its utilization in own reactors. For example, one reactor requires about 200 tons of yellow cake per year, worth at export of about $20 M while this will save if used in Jordan reactor about one billion dollars of heavy fuel or diesel.

As to the duration to develop the nuclear option, let us remind ourselves that the first investment in wind power was in 1970s at the RSS and umtil now we hardly can see a real contribution to the energy mix.
