This week, Al Balad Theater and Goethe-Institut present “Encounter”, a musical evening by Manfred Leuchter from Germany on accordion and Mohamed Najem from Palestine on clarinet.

Though they are coming from very different background, the two musicians share an insatiable curiosity about each other’s musical universe, and together they present their own pieces, thereby exploring the possibilities between composition and improvisation. Ticket: 5 JDs, available at entrance (Tuesday, 8:00 pm).

The American 2014 film “Camp X-Ray” will be screened at Shoman Foundation. The film tells the story of a young girl who escapes her suffocating small town by joining the military, only to find that she isn’t going for a tour of duty in Iraq as she hoped. Instead, she’s sent to Guantanamo. Met with hatred and abuse from the men in her charge, she forges an odd friendship with a young Muslim man who has been imprisoned there for eight years (Tuesday, 6:30 pm).

At Tiraz, Widad Kawar Home for Arab Dress, “Golden Threads of Bethlehem” exhibition continues. Tiraz’s first exhibition explores Bethlehem’s vibrant cultural heritage narrated through its traditional costumes (everyday but Mondays and Fridays, 10am – 4pm).

You still have a chance to explore Mohammad Al Ameri’s exhibition, “Sufi Love”. The art exhibition continues this week at Orient Gallery, and is based on works borne through canvas and paper (everyday, 6:00 pm).
